I will have to keep my eye on this on. I always did like this theme idea.

I think I'd like to do this, any room for guy in this? That new Jonny Depp "Alice" movie is coming out soon, there's probably a lot of good ideas there.

    Question

Seriously would love to attend now that there seems to be two openings available again, but having doubts since I've not done anything like this before. What equipment is a MUST? What should I expect?

    Camera
    Batteries (lots of them)
Several Memory Cards (shooting RAW you will fill a good many! Plus it's just a good idea to have several in case one craps out on you - you wont lose ALL your pics)
If it's going to be night time - which we aren't real sure of yet - Im guessing you will need some kind of offboard flash. If using stands then you will need a triggering system of some sort.
Some basic working knowledge of your equipment - though settings and stuff I usually hunt down Robin or Roy on. Both are willing to help determine what you SHOULD be shooting at for the situation.
And lots of imagination and openess to learning.
Oh and MONEY! In case you wanna go to the after party! LOL!

    Okay I didn't notice it's from 2pm-Dusk so...

You will likely need some kind of offboard lighting both for when it gets darker AND for overpowering shadows often cast by the afternoon sunsetting.
Doesn't have to be fancy lighting - you see all kinds out there - ghetto it up if you must!

    camera, flash, memory card, batteries...

    that's all you need.

Many of us started these workshops with nothing more than the flash on top of the camera and some experimenting...you can have a great time with just your camera.

Yep! She lives directly behind my house - so she popped by with the little equipment she has - and I think we have found a way to "ghetto it up" so she can come along. I told her that if nothing else - it's fun to attend. So even if her pics don't turn out - there are TONS of people around to help her figure out her camera and offer advice - and it's just a big learning experience!

I just signed up. Hopefully, if nothing else, I'll learn a lot from what others are doing and have some great fun with new people and a neighbor. I am doing my best to get some more equipment prior to the shoot, but super excited and nervous.
